Inspired by Shirley “Jean” and Ronald “Cookie” Jackson
Our organization was born from the love, compassion, and unwavering generosity of “Jean” and “Cookie”—a mother and son whose lives were defined by kindness. Jean believed in lifting others up with grace and dignity, and Cookie followed in her footsteps with a heart just as big and generous. Together, they created a legacy of quiet service and unconditional love that continues to guide us today.
Jean’s other children and family are here to carry that legacy forward by providing a safe, supportive space for individuals and families facing life’s challenges. Whether it’s a tank of gas to get to work, help paying an overdue utility bill, or covering a child’s school lunch account, we believe no need is too small—and no one should ever feel alone in their struggle.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we’re able to respond to these needs with compassion—not judgment. We know that asking for help takes strength, and we’re here to meet that strength with open hearts and meaningful support.
We added a lighthouse to the Cookie and Jean symbol as a beacon of hope in challenging times.
Lighthouses inspire hope, especially during difficult times. Their steady light embodies the promise of a brighter future and the belief that there is always a path forward. Applicable to our day-to-day lives, the lighthouse image reminds us that this shall pass and that better days are ahead. They stand for resilience, reminding us to stay positive and persevere through life's challenges.
